Snow Falling on Cedars
Las Vegas' most memorable season is summer, obviously, but it can drop below freezing during the long winter nights. When I first moved out here I asked the locals, "Does it snow?" They uniformly denied such phenomena (save for the outlying mountains), citing the lack of precipitation and general willpower of the inhabitants.
Evidently the locals are not to be trusted.
It certainly can snow! A few days ago, we received a record-setting seven inches in under twenty-four hours, knocking over trees, shutting down the roads and freeways and airport, and generally causing havoc among the sun-loving natives.
Dagon thought it was the greatest invention since the ice cube and persisted in taking me for long walks until the last traces had fully melted away.
